The Honourable Margaret White AO

The Honourable Margaret White was admitted to practice as a barrister in 1978 and appeared in a number of landmark constitutional cases, most notably Mabo v Queensland. She also tutored and lectured in law at the University of Queensland.

In 1992, Commissioner White became the first woman to be made a judge of the Supreme Court in Queensland. She was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2010 and retired from the bench in June 2013.

Commissioner White was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2013 for distinguished service to the judiciary and community. She has also been awarded a Centenary Medal (2003) and Honorary Doctor of Laws (2005) from the University of Queensland.
